I never thought that my first published book will be about weddings. Or PR. And yet, Marry the Media, which came out in June, is the first book written about the niche subject of wedding PR. In it, I hope to teach creatives working in the wedding industry how to work with the media to get publicity for their business.
Having worked in the wedding industry full-time since 2011, I've seen a tremendous need for education about public relations, specifically as it relates to busy small business owners. There are only a handful of PR firms, including mine, that specialize in this area and a big lack of resources to help guide entrepreneurs on how to get results without having to hire one of us to help them.
And so, I decided to write an easy-to-read guide on PR for wedding photographers, planners, caterers, DJs, videographers, dress designers and many others who work in weddings. Writing and publishing a book wasn't an easy process, but so far, the response has been really great.
